Q. What do you mean when you talk about color as a metaphor?
A. In looking for a way to help people get out of literal black and white thinking, we came across the color wheel. Its properties work well to help people imagine making decisions differently. That’s why it’s a metaphor—we aren’t using color and art per se, but rather what they suggest.
Q. How often do you offer workshops?
What if there’s not a workshop in my area?
A.
We try to offer a workshop each month. We’re happy to do a workshop in your city, region, or country with enough advance notice.
Q. If I can’t take a workshop, is there any other way I can get the information you’re offering?
A. We have a CD that highlights the information offered in workshops. Our book, Color Up Decisions to Thrive On, is forthcoming as well. And Ann does one-on-one coaching/counseling for a small fee.
Q. I’ve taken a workshop and want more! What comes next?
A. We do offer advanced workshops that take Color Up to the next step. It’s often easiest to plan this kind of workshop when everyone is still together; if there is enough interest, we can set the date for the second workshop on the spot.
Q. How did you get together to start doing this work?
A. We’ve known each other for about twenty years and taught at the same two universities—Humboldt State University in California and the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. By coincidence, we also bought historic houses two blocks apart in Albuquerque. This particular project started after a conference program where we both talked about creativity in our lives. We realized we shared similar values and beliefs about creativity and wanted to share those with others.
